The Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, described the Most Holy Theotokos as the preeminent model of faith and life for the Orthodox during his speech at the Holy Vigil held at the Vatopedi Metochion in Porto Lagos on the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
A multitude of believers from Greece and abroad gathered in Porto Lagos for the feast of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos, at the Vatopedi Metochion of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi.
The Holy Vigil began at 20:00 p.m., according to the Athonite ritual, with the Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, presiding. Vatopedi fathers and priests participated in the Vigil, while the Vatopedi fathers' choir performed the hymns of the service.
In his speech, Elder Ephraim referred to the Most Holy Theotokos and the importance of humility and devotion to God.
Among the pilgrims who attended the religious events was American actor Jonathan Jackson.
