Messages of Hope from Mount Athos to the whole world are being sent, through his interview with the Acheloos TV Station, by Elder Ephraim, Abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery. “We are blessed because the Holy Cara of Saint Chrysostom is in our monastery and what gives it this spiritual splendor is the incorruptible ear of the Saint,” said the Elder, while declaring that “the first concern of an abbot, a spiritual father, is the renewal of the hearts of the monks.” He added, however, that since ancient times, Vatopedi had "two feet, one foot in complacency and the other foot in missionary work" and the first University during the Turkish occupation was in Vatopedi, the Athonia Academy.
