Gerasimos served as Metropolitan of Philippi and Drama in the late 19th century, and later became a brother of the Vatopedi Monastery. In the monastery's mansion, Gerasimos built at his own expense in 1788 the chapel of Apostle Andrew, whose founding inscription mentions his name, along with that of the then sacristan, Philotheos of Moudaniotos.
