He was from the village of Metapolis in the province of Prousia. He studied at the Rizarios School and then at the Theological School of the University of Athens. He served as a teacher at the Monastery, treasurer and representative in Karyes. He was appointed by the Holy Community as the Commissioner of Mount Athos in Thessaloniki, where he died at the age of 40. He undertook the transfer of the Library from the catechumens to the Tower of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, as well as the arrangement of the manuscripts and printed matter in alphabetical order. He compiled the first handwritten catalogues of the printed matter and manuscripts of the library of the Vatopedi Monastery.
