Epitrachelion of Radu Paisie, circa 1530

On the fully embroidered epitrachelion (143,5X20,5 cm.) prophets with scrolls are represented symmetrically under single-lobed and three-lobed arches, in addition to Moses holding the tablets of the law and Aaron with the censer, as well as martyrs with crosses. The slender figures with elegant movements are reminiscent of the Byzantine models of the late Palaeologan period. In the spaces of the lower row are depicted the donors of the vestment, who, although not accompanied by inscriptions of their names, are identified with the voivode Radu Paisie and his son Markos (fig. 371). It is dated around 1530.
