The foot (50X44,5 cm) with the representation of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary was made according to its votive inscription in 1716 by the remarkable embroiderer Evangelistria. In the upper part of the composition is depicted the "Ancient of Days" flanked by two Seraphim and in the corners two four-leafed anthemions with wheel wings. Directly below are two liturgical inscriptions that correspond to the full-length central figures of the Virgin Mary and the archangel. The pedestal of the composition is adorned with a rich floral decoration embroidered on the shiny silk fabric (satin), while the circumference of the halos is formed by rows of pseudo-pearls. The central representation is surrounded by a narrow frame with a spiral flowering stem, in the lower corners of which the prophets David and Solomon are depicted on their chests. This particular frame has particular significance for the Vatopedi Monastery, since the monastery is honored on the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.
