Temple-shaped box, with the assistance of Archimandrite Dionysios, year 1843

The temple-shaped box (height 32 cm) was made, according to an engraved inscription on the lower zone of its base, in 1843 in Iași by a local goldsmith. The work is among the silver works of the sacristy, which are due to the contribution of Archimandrite Dionysios, exarch of the Vatopedi Monastery in Iași. During the revolution of 1821, the sacristy of the Monastery suffered many losses and numerous valuable relics were handed over by the monks to the Turks. The renewal of the sacristy, as well as the replacement or renewal of the lost and worn sacred votives, respectively, were undertaken by certain members of the monastic community, including Archimandrite Dionysios.
