Saint Theodore the Tyrian (17/2)

The holy martyr Theodore was born in a small village in Cappadocia. When he came of age, he joined the ranks of the royal troops, in the order of the Tyrones, from which he received the nickname Tyrone. At that time, Maximian was king of the East.

When given the opportunity, the saint did not refuse to confess Christ as the only true God, and for this he endured many beatings and finally, after being thrown into a burning furnace, death.

Everyone knows the miracle that the saint performed during the time of the lawless Julian. That is, when the half-Christ Julian wanted to defile the Christians during the period of Great Lent by ordering that only food sacrificed to idols be offered to the people of Constantinople, then the martyr Theodore appeared to the Patriarch of the City and urged him to offer the faithful boiled wheat (kolliva). And so the king's lawless plan did not bear fruit.
