The Troparion "The sun hiding..." by Georgios Akropolitos in the tone of the first piano and the member of Markos Vasilios

15.05.2011

It is chanted after the procession of the Epitaph.

The sun hid its own rays and the curtain of the temple was torn open at the death of the Savior, and Joseph, beholding, approached Pilate and pleaded, saying: Give me this stranger, who from infancy has been a stranger in the world. Give me this stranger, whom fellow-sex people hate and kill as a stranger. Give me this stranger, whom I am estranged from seeing the stranger of death. Give me this stranger, who has seen the poor and strangers estranged. Give me this stranger, whom the Jews, out of envy, have estranged from the world. Give me this stranger, that I may hide him in a tomb, who as a stranger has no head to lay. Give me this stranger, whom the mother, seeing him dead, cried out: O Son and my God, if even my bowels tremble and my heart break, I have declared you dead, but I will magnify you by your resurrection. And yet, with these words, Pilate, the good-natured one, receives the body of the Savior, which, wrapped in linen and myrrh with fear, he deposited in the tomb, the giver of all eternal life and great mercy.
