Elder Ephraim of Vatopedi: "Love for God has no limits, no end"
Speech by Elder Ephraim, Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, at the Synod of the Monastery during the traditional Athonite feast after the end of the Vespers of Love. On the occasion of the celebration of the Vespers of Love, the Elder noted characteristically that every Service of the liturgical life of the Church is a prayer, through which the believer seeks to commune with Christ and become one with Christ. Every service, the Elder states in his speech, is a service of love and love for God has no limits and no end. In particular, the Vespers celebrated on Easter Sunday is characterized as the Vespers of Love because the Church demonstrates on this day that the Risen Christ is the God of Love. Then, the fathers of the Monastery recite the Gospel of the Vespers of Love in the Homeric dialect.
