Speeches about the Blessed Elder Joseph of Vatopedi at the Synod

Thirteen (13) years were completed on July 01, 2022, since the repose of the blessed Elder Joseph of Vatopedi. In a climate of devotion and in accordance with the Athonite tradition and ecclesiastical order, the annual memorial service of the blessed Elder Joseph of Vatopedi was held on Friday, July 01, the first after the transfer of his remains.
On the eve of the evening, the memorial service was held. The service was presided over by His Eminence Bishop of Amathus, Mr. Nikolaos, flanked by the Abbot of the Monastery of Koutloumousiou, Elder Nikolaos, the Abbot of the Monastery of Simonos Petras, Elder Eliseos, the Abbot of the Monastery of Hosios Gregoryos, Elder Christophoros, the Abbot of the Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, the Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Fr. Chrysostomos Papadakis and other Athonite Fathers, who came to the Monastery to honor the blessed Elder.

After the end of the holy memorial service, a trisagion was celebrated at the tomb of the blessed Elder Joseph, followed by the traditional feast in the Synod of the Monastery.
During the reception, His Holiness and the Abbots referred to the person of the blessed Elder, his religious life and his spiritual life, as an experience and living of the Gospel and the patristic tradition, while they also shared moments from their spiritual fellowship with the blessed Elder.
