A touching offering of love between two infants

A one and a half year old infant underwent a successful heart transplant which lasted 9 hours at a hospital in Turin (Regina Margherita).

The donor is an infant from Patras, with only 20 days difference from the recipient.

"We would be happy if we could meet the parents who donated their child's heart," says Irena, the child's mother, just after she was released from intensive care. "For us, this is the third time our child has been reborn because he was in mortal danger twice before. Now we see light at the end of the tunnel," says the child's forty-five-year-old father, Vincenzo.

In the neighboring country, the story received particular media coverage. “From Greece a new heart for the little Genoese” is the characteristic headline of the newspaper “Repubblica”.
