16.10.2026

The Association of Large Families of Edessa "Saint Stylianos" held its annual event today, Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the Cultural Center of the Holy Metropolis of Edessa.

Metropolitan Ioil of Edessa, Pella and Almopia was represented by the First Synod of the Holy Metropolis, Archimandrite Fr. Maximos Hatzis, who conveyed the paternal wishes of His Eminence.

The Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, was represented by Hieromonk Timotheos and Monk Stefanos, Vatopedi residents, who conveyed the Abbot's paternal wishes and blessing.

During the event, 19 mothers of many children and 48 students from large families were awarded, as part of the long-term support that the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi offers to families with many children and to young people who are continuing their studies.

At a time when financial difficulties significantly burden the daily lives of large families, practical support and the enhancement of children's education constitute a substantial contribution to the prospects of Greek society.

The Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi has been supporting large and very large families for years, offering financial support, in collaboration with the local Holy Metropolises and following relevant requests from the Associations of Large Families. At the same time, it awards financial prizes to students from large families, supporting their efforts for education and progress.

The event was attended by representatives of local authorities and the Security Forces, as well as presidents of Large Family Associations.

Ms. Dimitra Angeli, general secretary of the Supreme Confederation of Large Families of Greece (ASPE), delivered a welcome address, representing the Confederation.

The event was coordinated and presented by the president of the Association of Large Families of Edessa "Agios Stylianos", Mr. Georgios Mischos.
