Elder Joseph of Vatopedi
Meekness, as a characteristic, is a product of the energy of the Holy Spirit. Its source and root is humility. This too is a divine characteristic, since our Lord, who is “humble in heart,” is at the same time also meek, since he emphasizes meekness more than humility. The body is humility and the shadow of the body is meekness. It has never been heard of a humble person being angry or an angry person being humble.
