A theatrical performance about the life of Saint Maximus of Greece on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his migration to Russia.

The Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis organized today, Monday, December 17, an International Scientific Conference on Saint Maximus the Greek, "Saint Maximus the Greek - From Mount Athos to Russia (1518-2018)", on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the transition of Saint Maximus to Russia in the cultural center of Western Thessaloniki. The opening speech was given by the Abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery, Elder Ephraim, developing the topic: "The transition of Saint Maximus the Greek from the Vatopedi Monastery to Russia". This was followed by the two sessions of the Conference with speeches by reputable clerical and lay scholars, who come from various theological and monastic centers such as the Athonite State, the Theological Schools of Athens and Thessaloniki, and from various international universities.


According to the program, after the end of the work and the presentation of the Findings of the Conference and at 7:30 p.m., a theatrical performance on the life of Saint Maximus was presented. Songs were performed by the Women's Choir "Saint Cassian the Hymnographer" of the Holy Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis.

The event was attended by His Eminences, the Metropolitans of Arta and Neapolis, the Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi and priests from Macedonia, as well as representatives of the State and students.
