The Holy Belt of the Theotokos, which is located on Mount Athos, in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, is being transferred to the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta.

The Holy Belt of the Virgin Mary will be available for veneration and blessing by the faithful at the Metropolitan Church of Saint George of Paralimni from February 5 to 11, 2024.

The Holy Belt will be presented to Cyprus by His Eminence, Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Archimandrite Ephraim, following an invitation from His Holiness Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta Vasilios.

The Holy Belt will arrive in Cyprus from Mount Athos, at the old Larnaca airport, on Monday, February 5, 2024, and will be received with the honors of a head of state. At 12 noon, the official reception of the Holy Belt will take place in Paralimni, the temporary seat of the Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta. The reception point will be the area in front of the old Paralimni Metropolitan Cathedral. Then, it will be transported in procession to the Metropolitan Church of St. George of Paralimni, where it will remain for veneration until Sunday, February 11.

The arrival of the Holy Belt of the Virgin Mary to the semi-occupied Metropolis also marks the beginning of the actions carried out this year by the Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta, in the context of the anniversary of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion.
