"Elders and Gerontism"

In the Holy Church of Saint Eleftherios of Chalandri, of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, on Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Luke, October 11, 2026, the Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, celebrated and spoke. Vatopedi Fathers as well as clergy of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens concelebrated with Elder Ephraim. During his speech, on the occasion of the gospel passage with the parable of the sower, Elder Ephraim urged the congregation to live every moment of their lives together with Christ. Every Christian can taste this experience of life in Christ only through the mysteries of our Church and especially the mystery of the Holy Eucharist. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Elder blessed an icon of the Holy Belt in the church.

Subsequently, in the hall of the Holy Church, a spiritual speech was given by Elder Ephraim on the topic “Elders and Gerontism”. The speech was given within the framework of the Orthodox Self-Consciousness Seminar which is held by the parish. Initially, the Abbot was welcomed to the church by the head of the Holy Church, Protopresbyter Fr. Ioannis Lambrou. Elder Ephraim was then addressed before the large congregation that gathered to listen to the spiritual speech of the Athonite Elder, by the Emeritus Professor of the Theological School of Athens, President of the Institute of Saint Maximus the Greek and Protopanstor of the Church, Mr. Apostolos Nikolaidis.
