Announcement from the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopaidi

By its verdict today, Greek Justice has restored the honor of all those unjustly afflicted for nearly a decade now.

            The Holy Great Monastery of Vatopaidi wishes first of all to give glory to God for allowing its acquittal. It may now continue its spiritual and charitable work unhindered.

            The Monastery would also like to express its gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, to the Church of Greece, to the Patriarchates of Alexandria and Jerusalem, and to all the clergy and laity who stood by our side throughout this ordeal.

Today, the three-member Court of Appeals in Athens declared all the defendants innocent in the case of the Monastery of Vatopaidi land exchange.
